Consistency is a value I consider important. I strive to be consistent in both my words and actions. One of my goals for this year is to be consistent in both my personal and professional life. One way I have noticed that I am consistent is in a way many people would disagree with which is I no longer post “Thoughts and Prayers” post on my social media when a tragedy happens. “Thoughts and Prayers” post are when people post immediately after a terror attack or accident that their “Thoughts and Prayers are with the victims of insert tragedy.” That may sound insensitive but I have a legitimate reason for why I do not want these post on my social media. The reason why I do not post “Thoughts and Prayers” tweets is because if I miss one tragedy there will be a backlash from people who feel I am ignoring the tragedy and that I consider one tragedy more tragic than the other. I also believe that my post cannot change what happens. I rather pray in private for those victims without broadcasting to those I follow on social media.
The ways I remain consistent with my actions are on a more personal level. I create schedules for myself so I can have consistent actions. I create weekly schedules for when I go to the gym to work out and for posting podcast for The Brit List. Sticking to a simple schedule will help me when I develop a stricter schedule. This is my way to train myself to be more productive.
It is important for me to remain consistent in my words because it would ruin any credibility I have. Reading that I loud, I realize how silly that may sound. Why do I need to remain credible? Because I would like to grow my social media following with my podcast. I want those who read my post and listen to my podcast to trust me. There is no point in having a show and posting online if the people I interact with do not trust what I have to say.
I hope that I demonstrate my consistency and trustworthiness to everyone who reads my post on social media and those who listen to my podcast. I remain committed to being my best self and I want those reading this to be their best selves as well.
What are ways you remain consistent in life? Is consistency a major key in your life?
